Midland Compound No 1000 arrives at Hellifield on the 4th February 1983. This was the first weekend of two featuring this loco and "Leander" on the S & C. The northbound run left Hellifield extremely late, for reasons I can no longer remember. However this gave the assembled multitudes plenty of opportunity to photograph both 1000 and 5690 prior to departure.
