61264 leaves Goole with the Scarborough to Doncaster leg of "The Yorkshire Coast Express" on 23rd April 2005 (1)

The gradient change at Copy Pit Summit is very evident as 6233 "Duchess of Sutherland" breasts it with very little fuss on the 29th June 2003. The train was 1Z63 13.02 Preston to Crewe "Northern Belle".

75019 waits impatiently outside the entrance to Rylstone Quarry for the charter to really begin. 26/2/00. Unfortunately for the participants the weather turned nasty from here on and rain was the order of the day.

75019 at Skipton, which apart from the cars could be 1968. Instead it's the 26th February 2000 and who would have thought a steam-hauled freight would be seen on the main line as late as that!

After what had been a largely dull 12th June 2004, the sun came out, making a quick dash to Kirkham Abbey a necessity, to photograph 3440 "City of Truro" returning to York with 1Z48 17.22 ex-Scarborough. I hope you agree that the results were ample reward!

A steam-hauled freight train on Railtrack in 2000! Hard to believe, but here's the proof. 75019 heads along the Grassington Branch to Rylstone, north of Embsay Junction with a private charter on the 26th February 2000.

34067 "Tangmere" has only had a couple of forays into the Northern Fells. On the first of these it failed. The second attempt was more successful and here it's passing Keld, north of Appleby, led by "76029" on the 21st February 2004. The train was 1Z72 13.34 Carlisle to Lincoln.

6024 "King Edward I" passes Ryther on the ECML with the "Royal Sovereign" from York to Peterborough. 16th September 2000.

6233 "Duchess of Sutherland" is just getting into it's stride at Doe Hill, near Alfreton on the 19th October 2004 with 1Z62 09.13 Leicester to York.

3440 "City of Truro" passes Scarborough Terrace, York with 1Z46 12.10 Scarborough to York on the 12th June 2004. The photo was taken at 1/60th of a second hence the slight blur at the front.

4965 "Rood Ashton Hall" heads south at Hargrave with 2T64 14.52 Chester to Crewe, on the 31st May 2003. The train was one of a series of specials in conjunction with an open day at Crewe Works.

5690 "Leander" storms through Clay Cross Junction on the 6th August 2005 with 1Z59 Dorridge to Sheffield.

B1 61264 passes Hallroyd Junction on the 5th November 2005 and is about to climb to Copy Pit with 1Z54 06.30 Cleethorpes to Blackpool. It had taken over the train at Horbury Junction.

71000 "Duke of Gloucester" leaves Long Preston after a water stop with 1Z71 13.05 Appleby to Crewe on the 3rd September 2005. The train was a Kingfisher Tours "Dalesman" working.

76079 is pictured approaching Ashley station on the 2nd May 2004 with 2Z78 16.25 Chester to Altrincham.

4472 "Flying Scotsman" heads north coming off the Swinton and Knottingley line at Burton Salmon on the 24th April 2002. The train was a Chester to York VSOE special.

6201 "Princess Elizabeth" has a very pleasant backdrop near Penmaenmawr with a Milton Keynes to Holyhead charter on the 21st June 2003.

6233 wheels 1Z62 13.15 Carlisle to Preston away from Hellifield on the 9th July 2005. One of these days I'll phot a loco with some exhaust at this location!

While running a series of specials round the Oldham Loop prior to the lines' proposed conversion to a tram route, "45157" passes Castleton with the "Mumps and Bruises" 2Z42 charter on the 15th September 2002.

45157 leaves Settle on the 1st May 2001 with the "S & C 125th Anniversary Express". It was running late unfortunately which means the sun was a little bit farther round than I would have liked.

76079 - "The Pocket Rocket", was booked for series of Altrincham to Chester trains in association with a local newspaper on the 2nd May 2004. Here it's seen heading the first train of the day across Northwich Viaduct.

61264 passes Sherburn-in-Elmet with "The Yorkshire Terrier" from Kings Cross to Scarborough on the 13th March 2004. The loco unfortunately failed later in the day, so I'm glad that I didn't chase it any further!

4472 "Flying Scotsman" in pre-NRM owned days. It had come over Copy Pit with a Preston to York VSOE train on the 19th October 2002 and was just pulling away from a signal check at Horbury.

6233 hurries away from a water stop at Barrow Hill, at Foxlow Junction on the 19th October 2004, with the "Coronation Pullman" - 1Z62 09.13 Leicester to York.

6233 climbs through Golcar on the 29th June 2003 with the Northern Belle from Preston to Crewe.

6233 "Duchess of Sutherland" is pictured near Mostyn on the 11th June 2002 when it was famously on Royal Train duties for the first time. It was conveying the Queen and Prince Phillip from Anglesey to Crewe.
